Wind advisory, hard freeze warning for this evening

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory from 6 tonight until 9 a.m. Saturday as well as a hard freeze warning from midnight to 11 a.m. Saturday for Biloxi and the surrounding area.

Sustained winds of 25 to 30 mph are expected with gusts around 40 mph and temperatures are expected to drop to the lower 30s.

“We are asking people, if you have to drive in this weather, to be careful as winds this strong can make driving difficult,” Mayor Andrew “FoFo” Gilich said.  “Also, to look after those that may need assistance and to remember the three Ps: Protect your pets, pipes, and plants.”

Forecasters are also warning of black ice north of the I-10 corridor.  Black ice, formed when the air is at 32 degrees or below when rain is falling, is possible on bridges and overpasses.
