Council to move meetings

The City Council will move its next three meetings to the Biloxi Community Center because of the pending renovations at City Hall.

The council will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 20 and 27, and Nov. 3 at the community center, which is on Howard Avenue at Bellman Street.

After the Nov. 3 meeting, council meetings will be at the Community Development auditorium in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Municipal Building on MLK Boulevard, where storm renovations are nearly complete.

The City Hall renovations, which may begin in several weeks, are expected to be completed in about nine months. Most staff — including the Human Resources Division and the clerks of council — have already re-located to other city facilities for the renovations, and the mayor’s office and accompanying staff are expected to leave City Hall for temporary trailers behind the building in a couple of weeks.
