Weather Service issues tornado watch until 7 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch until 7 this evening for Biloxi and Harrison County. A tornado watch means that the National Weather Service believes conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes in and close to the watch area.

Earlier today, Biloxi Emergency Management coordinator Linda Atterberry reported that a low pressure will move across Harrison County today and this evening bringing numerous showers and thunderstorms.

“We have a slight risk of severe thunderstorms, damaging straight line wind gusts, large hail and isolated tornadoes,” Atterberry said in relaying information from Harrison County emergency managers. “The greatest threat of severe weather will be late morning through late afternoon.”
