Volunteers begin drive to provide Thanksgiving meals

The Harrison County Volunteers to Feed the Needy have begun their 2008 drive to deliver hot meals to the homes of those less fortunate on Thanksgiving Day.

The names of anyone in need of a meal on
Thanksgiving Day are currently being accepted.

To request meals please call one of the following numbers:

— Harrison County 896-0606

Meals can be picked up or delivered for needy families that live in the Harrison County area.

The deadline to request Thanksgiving meals is November 24, 2008.

If you’d like to participate by preparing, packaging or delivering meals, report to the Bayou View Middle School cafeteria
212 43rd Street, Gulfport, on Nov. 27 at 9 a.m. to help package meals or 10:30 a.m. to help deliver meals.

Donations to help make this a
good Thanksgiving for those who
may be less fortunate can be mailed to

Council schedule: The lineup of scheduled City Council meetings for the remainder of the year: Nov. 18 and 25, and Dec. 2, 16 and 30. The meetings, all on Tuesdays, begin at 1:30 p.m. at City Hall, and are open to the public.
