The Biloxi Visitors Center marks its second anniversary Thursday with door prizes throughout the day, and free hot dogs, hamburgers and soft drinks at lunchtime.
The party will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
Members of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Attractions Association will have exhibits showing unique ways to enjoy Biloxi and the Gulf Coast.
Since opening in 2011, the Biloxi Visitors Center has greeted more than 175,000 visitors and host to more than 200 events, including corporate meetings, weddings, family and civic group receptions, and private functions.
The Visitors Center is an $11 million, 24,000-square-foot, two-story facility that houses nearly a dozen multi-media exhibits that tell the story of Biloxi and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Visitors will also find a gift shop featuring locally made and themed merchandise. Both floors of the beachfront facility include abundant space available for receptions or meetings, and the second floor also features a theater that shows two movies throughout the day: a 10-minute video titled “We are Biloxi” and the city’s award-winning documentary, “Katrina and Biloxi.”
Said Bill Raymond, the city’s Historical Administrator and manager of the Visitors Center: “The facility has far exceeded our expectations in terms of the number of guests and popularity for events.”
