This weekend’s edition of the “VH1 Top 20 Video Countdown,” which airs Saturday morning, will feature more than a dozen locations from Biloxi and the Gulf Coast. The two-hour program begins at 8 a.m., Biloxi time.
The scenes, along with 149 nationally aired TV spots on VH1, are part of the Mississippi Gulf Coast “Wish You Were Here” multi-platform tourism campaign funded by BP. The VH1 program also airs Sunday, September 5 from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., and again during the week.
Footage will feature the show’s host, Jim Shearer, visiting Mississippi Gulf Coast attractions, landmarks and experiencing Southern hospitality and culture. Among the Biloxi locales taped were Beau Rivage, Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center, IP, Hard Rock, the Biloxi Small Craft Harbor and the Biloxi Lighthouse.
Council to eye budget, land-use plans in Tuesday meetings
The Biloxi City Council will stage two meetings Tuesday: a 9 a.m. gathering to continue deliberations over the city’s spending plans for the next year, and the regular 1:30 p.m. meeting, where councilmembers may approve the city’s Land Development Ordinance.
During the morning meeting, councilmembers are scheduled to discuss the city’s non-departmental funding, which has included funding for social service agencies and special events; and the city’s capital projects budget.
During the afternoon meeting, councilmembers are expected to vote on the city’s Land Development Ordinance, an issue that has stalled over which zoning classification will include adult-oriented businesses.
