Seats for USM’s Conference USA opener now on sale

Individual tickets for the University of Southern Mississippi’s first game of the 2017 Conference USA Championship Tournament are now on sale.

USM comes in as the top-ranked team in the conference, coming off an 11-3 victory at MGM Park Wednesday night against Southeastern Louisiana.

The Golden Eagles will take on a to-be-named opponent on Wednesday, May 24 at 4 p.m., which is Game 3 of the Conference USA tournament.

OK, so you’ve heard about Conference USA baseball championship coming to MGM Park next week.

It’s going to be five days of top-flight college baseball, led by the top-seeded Southern Miss Golden Eagles, along with daily national TV exposure and thousands of baseball fans from across the country.

Biloxi Police honor fallen officers

Dozens of people – relatives of fallen officers, retired police officers, military personnel, and those on duty from Biloxi and neighboring jurisdictions – gathered today to honor the memory of Biloxi police officers who died in the line of duty.

During the ceremony, officers honored Lt. Michael Meaut, Officer Emory Wilson, Officer David Higginbotham and Animal Control Officer Nathan Mitchell, four Biloxi police officers who died while on duty.

Hiller splash pad closed:  The splash pad at Hiller Park is temporarily closed so that repairs can be made to damaged equipment.  The splash pad is set to re-open sometime next week.

Preservation series continues:  The 10th annual Preservation in May series continues tonight with “A Visit in Historic Oak Park Neighborhood.”  The walking tour begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Businessmen’s Park, at the intersection of Forrest and Bayview avenues.  To see more about the series, click here
