Dozens of residents from Biloxi and the surrounding area showed up and spoke during a special City Council meeting on Tuesday to discuss the city’s tree-protection ordinance. Most residents spoke in favor of a return to a tree committee to have a say in the process, while others pointed to a need to not add unnecessary layers to burden economic development or diminish property rights.
The next step: Â A follow-up meeting to further discuss the tree-protection ordinance is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 18, immediately following the City Council’s 1:30 p.m. meeting. The gathering is open to the public and will be at City Hall.
