Tonight, get a sneak peek at history expo

Aficionados of Biloxi and Gulf Coast history are in for a treat.

This evening from 5:30 to 7 will be an opening reception for the Art of Keesler and the History of Keesler AFB exhibits at the Biloxi Visitors Center, a pre-cursor to the Gulf Coast Historical and Cultural Expo on Friday and Saturday.

All of the events are free and open to the public, and free refreshments will be served.

The expo itself will be open on Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Then on Saturday, the expo resumes at 9 a.m. with a presentation honoring the late Edmond Boudreaux. 

During the expo the theater will be used as a presentation venue with a full schedule of events. Russian dancers will also perform.

Among the organizations participating in the two-day expo are the Slavonian Ladies Auxiliary, Hancock County Historical Society, Biloxi Public Schools, Coastal Mississippi Mardi Gras Museum, Beauvoir, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Mississippi Gulf Coast National Heritage Area, Maritime & Seafood Industry Museum, Historical Society of Gulfport, and the Biloxi Public Library Local History and Genealogy Department.

Also participating are Gulf Coast Historical Society, Fleur de Lis Society, Land Trust of the Mississippi Coastal Plain, Singing River Genealogy and Local History Library, USM’s Gulf Park College for Women Archives, Ocean Springs Genealogical Society, LaPointe-Krebs House, Mississippi Coast Model Railroad Museum, Jackson County Historical and Genealogical Society, Gulf Coast Community Design Studio, NAACP Wade-in Remembrance Committee, Mississippi Aviation Heritage Museum, and West End Hose Company #3 Fire Museum.
