Toddlers can meet Santa at Excel by 5 affair Saturday

The Biloxi Excel by 5 Coalition will host its annual holiday event, “Come Learn with Santa,” Saturday, from 9 a.m. to noon at Lopez School, which is at 140 St. John Ave.

Children up to age 5 can participate in a variety of Christmas-related activities, including photos with Santa, decorating Christmas ornaments, and other age-appropriate Christmas activities.

“Come Learn with Santa” is a free event, sponsored by Biloxi Excel by 5, the city, Biloxi Public Schools, Beau Rivage Resort & Casino, Beau Rivage Diversity Champions and IP Casino Resort Spa.

Council to hear update on Popp’s Ferry bridge, consider subdivision

The Biloxi City Council will hear an update on the progress toward a new Popp’s Ferry bridge during an 11 a.m. meeting Tuesday, and then consider nearly 20 measures during a 1:30 p.m. meeting Tuesday afternoon

Among the issues at the afternoon meeting: learning interest rates on borrowing $14 million for a citywide streets project; voting on a proposed subdivision in Woolmarket; and recognizing a trio of citizens who assisted a motorist involved in a life-threatening accident.
