Take a historic cruise along the Biloxi waterfront

The Cultural & Heritage Committee of the Biloxi Bay Chamber of Commerce has announced that the next Biloxi History Cruise will be Friday, Sept. 11.

This will be a two-hour sunset cruise aboard the historic Pan American Clipper, with boarding at 5 p.m., and departure at 5:30 from Biloxi’s Point Cadet Marina.  The $50 ticket includes a plate of shrimp, coleslaw and beverages including beer and wine.

The seven speakers and their topics are: Capt. Louis Skrmetta, “The Pan American Clipper”; Ethel Stone Smith, “Ship Island Lighthouse keeper’s daughter”;  Susan Hunt, “The Isle of Caprice”; Edmond Boudreaux, “French Colonial Period”;  Kevin O’Brien, “G.E. Ohr”;   Alvin Baker, “Life on Deer Island”; Greg Stewart, “Beauvoir”;  Robert “Bones” Barq, “The Birth of Barq’s.”

The Cruise is limited to 80 passengers.  All proceeds will support projects of the Cultural & Heritage Committee.  Tickets are available by contacting the Biloxi Bay Chamber of Commerce at info@biloxibaychamber.org, 228-435-6149 or visit the chamber office, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Biloxi Visitors Center.

In the event of inclement weather the cruise will be rescheduled for 2 p.m. departure on Saturday, Sept. 12.
