Stallworth, Burton prevail in runoffs

William “Bill” Stallworth survived a runoff election to retain his Ward 2 seat on the Biloxi City Council, and Keith Burton outpolled incumbent Charles T. Harrison Jr. to capture the Republican nomination in Ward 3 in today’s primary runoffs in Biloxi.

Stallowrth outpolled fellow Democrat Felix Gines 343 votes (51.89 percent) to 318 votes (48.11 percent).

Stallworth faces no Republican opponent in the June 2 general elections.

Meantime, in the Ward 3 Republican runoff, Burton overcame Harrison 169 vottes (55.59 percent) to 135 votes (44.41 percent).

Burton will face Democratic nominee Lucy Denton in the general election.
