The beginning of the school year means the City of Biloxi’s fall youth sports leagues are just around the corner.
On Saturday, the Parks & Recreation Department will hold registration for its football and cheerleading leagues from 9 a.m. to noon at the Donal M. Snyder Sr. Community Center, 2520 Pass Road.
Football is open to children ages 5 to 12, cheerleading for ages 6 to 12 and fees for Biloxi residents range from $30 to $90, depending on the number of children registered. It’s $50 per child for non-Biloxi residents.
A second registration will be held Saturday, Aug. 12.
On Monday Aug. 14, registration for fall swimming lessons will begin. From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Biloxi Natatorium, 1384 Father Ryan Avenue, the aquatics division will be filling more than a half dozen classes for ages 6 months to adults.
Lessons will be held Monday through Thursday for two weeks at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m.
The two-week sessions begin on Monday, Sept. 5 and fees for each session are $30 for Biloxi residents and $50 for non-Biloxi residents.
Birth certificate and proof of residency are required for all registrations.
Elsewhere this weekend: Finally Friday is tonight from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Downtown Arts District off Rue Magnolia and Water Street, “All Shook Up” has been held over for three more nights this weekend at Center Stage Theatre, and Friends of Hiller Park will host Bingo Night on Sunday beginning at 2 p.m. at the Elk’s Lodge off U.S. 90.
Over at the casinos, Priscilla Presley, once known as “Mrs. Elvis Presley,” will be at the Beau Rivage, Gavin Degraw is at the Hard Rock and Ronnie Milsap performs at the IP Casino Resort.

Fall tennis: Registration for the fall beginner tennis clinic “Ready to Rally” will begin on Thursday, Sept. 7 and continue each Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. through Oct. 12 at the A.J. Holloway Sports Complex. The clinic is $40 for six sessions for ages 8 and older. To see the registration form, click here.
