Beginning Monday, August 17, the Donal M. Snyder Sr. Community Center pool will operate under a swim-at-your-own-risk policy during adult lap swim hours.
The change is being implemented amid an ongoing shortage of lifeguards and requests from swimmers using the facility, allowing the pool to remain available to the community while maintaining established safety rules.
Adult lap swim will be available Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. until noon. The pool will continue to remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
Swimmers must be 18 or older and will be required to sign a liability waiver before swimming. Although it is not required, it is recommended to swim with another person. The membership and non-member fees still apply when using the pool.
The swim-at-your-own-risk policy does not eliminate the pool’s safety requirements. All patrons must follow posted facility instructions. Proper swimsuits are required, and cotton clothing of any kind is not permitted in the pool. Running, diving, and horseplay are prohibited on or around the pool deck.
For those who prefer to swim where certified lifeguards are on duty, the Biloxi Natatorium remains an alternative. Patrons are encouraged to check posted operating hours before visiting.
