Snow, yes SNOW, in weekend forecast

Biloxi and the surrounding area could see a wintry mix of sleet and snow on Friday, turning to light snowfall by evening, according to the National Weather Service, which has issued a winter weather advisory for the area.

The advisory, which is in effect from 6 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday, means that residents should expect periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain, making travel difficult because of slippery roads and limited visibility.

Less than an inch of snowfall is forecast, but as much as 1 to 3 inches is forecast for areas north of the Coast.

The forecast is being driven by a strong Gulf low combined with cold air moving into the region.
