Christmas is just around the corner, which, in Biloxi, means more reasons to parade. So now is the time to sign up to participate in some of the holiday precessions.
Registration is open for children in kindergarten through fourth grade, to participate as a hay wagon rider in the annual Christmas on the Water Children’s Walking Parade. Organizations that want to participate as a walking unit may also sign up. The parade is set to take place in downtown Biloxi on Friday, Dec. 2 but registration closes Wednesday, Nov. 30.
Forms are available online at biloxi.ms.us or may be obtained by emailing the Biloxi Parks & Recreation Department at programs@biloxi.ms.us.
The Annual Christmas on the Water Children’s Parade will begin at 6 p.m. on Dec. 2 at the Dr. Frank G. Gruich Sr. Community Center, travel west on Howard Avenue, south on Reynoir Street, east on Jackson Street, south on Lameuse Street, and will end at the Biloxi Town Green, 710 Beach Blvd., where the holiday decorations will be lit on the Green.
Registration is also open for the Annual Woolmarket Parade and the City of Biloxi Ward 2 Christmas Parade. Those interested in participating in the Woolmarket parade should contact Jammie Hageman at 228-861-5422 or Ward 7 Councilmember Nathan Barrett at 228-263-3000 before Saturday, Dec. 10, the day of the parade. The Woolmarket parade begins on Dec. 10 at 2 p.m. and takes place along Shortcut Road and Woolmarket Road, ending at the Woolmarket Elementary School on John Lee Road.
Those interested in participating in the Ward 2 Christmas parade, which takes place along Division Street on Sunday, Dec. 11, have until Sunday, Dec. 4 to sign up. The parade is set to begin at 2:30 p.m. from O’Reily Park, 431 Division Street, and end at John Henry Beck Park, 671 Division Street.
