To encourage residents to enjoy a healthier lifestyle by participating in recreational tennis, the City of Biloxi is partnering with the Mississippi Tennis Association to host an affordable Beginner Tennis Clinic at Hiller Park this summer.
Adults and children who are 8 and older are invited to register for the 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday clinic, which will run for eight weeks, from July 6 to Aug. 24. USTA-certified instructors Tammy and Daniel Bowman will teach tennis fundamentals and organize practice matches among clinic participants during the last several sessions. Tennis racquets will be available to borrow for those who don’t already own one.
“We are pleased to be able to offer such an affordable introduction to tennis,” said Cheryl Bell, Parks and Recreation director for the City of Biloxi. “We’re installing new nets at the Hiller Park tennis courts to support the clinic and also to encourage recreational players to enjoy this centrally-located facility.”
The total cost is $45 and the clinic is limited to the first 25 players to register by Saturday, July 1. Those interested may register online or by mailing in the registration form with a check made payable to the Mississippi Tennis Association.
