Sign up for Start Smart Soccer beginning Friday

The Parks & Recreation Department has 20 openings for a free program designed to help prepare youngsters to participate in soccer.

Registration for the Start Smart Soccer Program begins Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will continue weekdays at the Recreation office, 377 Hiller Drive, until the participant limit is reached.

The program is open to all children ages 3 to 6 and their parents or a responsible adult and teaches children basic soccer skills such as kicking, passing and trapping.

Sessions begin on Tuesday, Oct. 10 and continue for five following Tuesdays, ending on Nov. 21.  Each session will be conducted from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Donal M. Snyder Sr. Community Center, 2520 Pass Road.

Participation is free for Biloxi residents and $25 for non-Biloxi residents.

News and notes: Firehouse steak dinner, early learning workshop

Firehouse cooking: Ever had a meal cooked by a firefighter? The West End Hose Company No. 3 will be serving steaks to your liking during “An Enchanted Evening,” on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 6:30 p.m. in the fire museum. Grow Smart: Parents of children up to age 5 can take part in the Tuesday, Oct. 10 Grow Smart program. The program will be from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Donal M. Snyder Sr. Community Center, 2520 Pass Road, and focuses on the child’s early learning development.  To see the flyer, click here
