Shuckers host Blue Wahoos tonight in Game 1 of playoffs

The Biloxi Shuckers, wrapping up the regular season with a franchise record 82 wins, begin the 2019 Southern League Playoffs tonight, facing the Pensacola Blue Wahoos in the best-of-five South Division Championship Series.

The Shuckers will host the Wahoos in a second game Thursday before the series moves to Pensacola. First pitch for the MGM Park games in 6:35.

“This Shuckers team is on a historic run of winning over the last couple seasons and they are fun to watch,” says Shuckers General Manager Hunter Reed. “The last time a Southern League team won four straight division title halves was 2010-11.  We came up just short in the championship last year and in 2015, but this is another opportunity to finish it the right way and we’ll need the fan support to make a difference and give us that true home field advantage.

“What makes this year’s run even better is this is such a great group of men overcoming the odds to get here.  To win a franchise-record 82 games was remarkable and our manager Mike Guerrero and the staff deserve a lot of credit.

“Beyond the action on the field, we’ll strive to provide a great fan experience just like always.  Tonight there is an All-You-Can-Eat ticket for only $20 in the Community Bank Terrace, but tickets are limited.  Thursday we’ll continue our $2 Yuengling, $2 Cokes, and $2 hot dog Double Play special.  So there are budget-friendly options with tickets starting as low as $7, but there are also options to enjoy all the amenities up on the suite level as well.”
