Secretary of State joins “Refuse to be a Victim” program for seniors

The Mississippi Secretary of State’s office and a Medicare expert have joined the city’s upcoming seminar to help seniors avoid becoming an easy target for scams.

“Refuse to be a Victim,” co-sponsored by Biloxi Regional Medical Center, will be presented Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Snyder Center on Pass Road.

The workshop will provide common sense tactics for a good start as a personal safety strategy for seniors.

Among the speakers will be Jim Nelson, who oversees business regulation and enforcement for the Mississippi Secretary of State’s office; and Cecille Noto, who oversees the Medicare Assistance Control Project for the Mississippi Agency on Aging.

This program includes a continental breakfast, health screenings, health information and lunch.

Pre-registration is required, and space is limited to first 100 registrants.
