Reminder: Weekend events, bridge work coming up

Trick or treat booths and games will be set up around the Biloxi Town Green Saturday afternoon beginning at 5:30, with an outdoor airing of the novie “Ghostbusters” planned for dusk. Those attending are encouraged to bring a canned food item, which will be donated to the Salvation Army food pantry.

Also on Saturday, from 1 to 3 p.m., the Biloxi Lions Club will formally dedicate the new all-access playground area at Lopez Park on Benachi Avenue just south of Howard Avenue.

Members of the Lions Club will be on hand during the dedication to serve free food and drinks. For more about the park project, click here.

Work planned on Popp’s Ferry Bridge Tuesday and Wednesday

Motorists traveling the Popp’s Ferry Bridge on Tuesday and Wednesday nights will experience traffic slowdowns as repairs are made to the grade at the span of the two-lane bridge.

The city’s Public Works Department plans to limit traffic to one lane from 8 p.m. to as late as midnight both nights. The bridge will accommodate vehicular and marine traffic during the work, but motorists are advised to expect slowdowns.

Biloxi Police will be on hand to keep traffic moving safely.
