Biloxi’s final program in the 2010 Preservation in May celebration, scheduled for Thursday at 5:30 p.m., will be held in Mary Mahoney Park in front of the Magnolia Hotel and just west of Mary Mahoney’s Old French House Restaurant.
“We had hoped that restoration of the Magnolia Hotel would be complete in time for us to offer tours as part of the final program,” lamented Bill Raymond, Biloxi’s historic administrator, “but we’ll have to delay public access to this historic building until later in the summer.”
“The Preservation Awards ceremony will proceed as planned and we hope the public will come out to enjoy the reception in the courtyard of Mary Mahoney’s French house Restaurant sponsored by the Hard Rock Casino and Hotel and music by Coconut Dave,” Raymond said.
“Don’t forget to bring your Passport through History,” Raymond added, “as we have a special gift for those in attendance who have attended two or more of this year’s Preservation in May programs prior to the 27th.”
The Preservation in May programs are sponsored by the City of Biloxi, Biloxi Bay Chamber of Commerce, Biloxi Chamber of Commerce and Biloxi Main Street in recognition of National Historic Preservation Month.
