Welders will be making repairs to the steel grate of the Popp’s Ferry bridge tonight, limiting traffic to one lane at times.
Work is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m., weather permitting, and will continue for several hours, and could resume again Wednesday night, according to Public Works Director Richard Sullivan.
“We’re asking motorists to be please be patient and careful when traveling this way,” Sullivan said. “We realize the issues that this work will be causing, particularly with the work that MDOT is doing on the I-110 highrise, but these repairs need to be done now.
“We’re going to do the work as quickly as possible.”
The bridge also will limit openings for marine traffic while the welding work is underway.
