The Popp’s Ferry Bridge has been temporarily re-opened to traffic after a malfunctioning locking device closed the bridge for more than a hour mid-afternoon.
Technicians have made temporary repairs to the locking device, but will raise the draw shortly after 6 p.m. to allow marine traffic to pass.
Motorists had been advised to use either the I-110 bridge in Biloxi or Cowan-Lorraine Road in Gulfport as an alternate route.
The bridge had been impassible since shortly after 3 p.m., when the draw was raised for marine traffic.
