Police activate Mardi Gras traffic plan

Biloxi Police have begun closing streets near the downtown parade route, and southbound traffic on I-110 will be forced to exit at Division Street beginning at noon, according to Sgt. Jackie Rhodes.

Shortly after noon, police also will limit traffic on U.S. 90 to two-way traffic on the two southernmost lanes, from near Lee Street to near Gill Avenue, Rhodes said.

The Gulf Coast Carnival Association parade, boasting more than 100 floats, is expected to begin rolling at 1 p.m., immediately followed by the Krewe of Neptune lineup.
