Playing spots available in Saints Hall of Fame golf tournament

Biloxi once again welcomes legends from the New Orleans Saints to the Mississippi Gulf Coast June 6-8 when the annual Saints Weekend returns for a celebrity-packed golf tournament at the Jack Nicklaus-designed Grand Bear and an autograph-photo session during a Biloxi Shuckers home game.

Two of the most outstanding offensive stars in Saints history will headline the golf tournament, along with former standout running back and Heisman Trophy winner George Rogers. The two newest Saints Hall of Fame inductees won’t be publicly revealed until the tournament, but their names are instantly recognized and celebrated among NFL fans. Several current Saints players and New Orleans Pelicans will join local teams in the golf tournament.

The golf tournament is for four-member teams, with a Saints/Pelicans celebrity player assigned to each team. The 18-hole scramble will start at 11 am on Friday, June 7, and will feature a Biloxi seafood jamboree provided again this year by the Mickey Bradley task force. Entry in the tournament is $1,000 per team, and is tax deductible with payment made to Biloxi Main Street, a 501(c)3. Entries are confirmed by emailing Main Street Director Kay Miller at kmiller@biloxi.ms.us, or by calling Biloxi Main Street at 228-435-6370. Entries are limited to the first 22 teams to register.

Other Saints stars committed early to participate in Saints Weekend in Biloxi include Bobby Hebert, Dalton Hilliard, Deuce McAllister, Joe Johnson, John Fourcade, Zach Strief and Pascagoula’s Chuck Commiskey.

“The Saints Hall of Fame Weekend in Biloxi is one of the most popular events our players enjoy each year,” said Ken Trahan, executive director of the Saints Hall of Fame. “We’ll have a private event Thursday night June 6 at the IP Casino for special invitees and players who sign up for the tournament. And when the golf tournament ends, the Hall of Famers will attend the Shuckers-Pensacola game at MGM Park that night to mingle with fans and for autographs and photos.”
