Plans for downtown restaurants reviewed

This week in Community Development, the Development Review Committee (DRC) reviewed a site plan for “Patio 44”, a new restaurant to be located downtown, at the southeast corner of Main and Water Street, just north of the McDonalds. The proposed 11,000 square foot restaurant is owned by the same group that owns and operates Mugshots. Their menu will include steak, seafood, chicken, sandwiches, and po-boys. DRC also reviewed a site plan for a new Dollar General Store to be located on Old Highway 67, just west of Hudson Krohn Road.

Also this week, the Architectural Historical Review Commission (AHRC) approved a new façade design proposal for the former Woolworth’s Building in the Vieux Marche’. The proposal includes removing the existing stucco facades on the front and rear, to expose the original brick, and to add other “Old Biloxi” architectural features. The interior of the structure will be remodeled to accommodate a restaurant, coffee shop, retail, and professional office spaces.

Lastly this week, a certificate of occupancy was issued for the new Petco store located at the Shoppes at Popp’s Ferry Shopping Center on Pass Road. COO’s were also issued for the new location of Epitome in Edgewater Mall, and for Dr. Michael Diaz MedicalOffice and Plastic Surgery Clinic on Tommy Munro Drive. Building Permits were issued this week for 4 new single family houses.
