Here are photographs from the city’s Katrina & Biloxi memorial observance on the Town Green, held on the morning of Aug. 29, 2006. The ceremony featured Homeland Security chief Michael Chertoff, Sens. Thad Cochran and Trent Lott, Rep. Gene Taylor, Gov. Haley Barbour, Mayor A.J. Holloway, local clergy and others. More than a thousand people — including volunteers and first-responders from across the country — attended the hour-long ceremony.
