State forced to capture Hiller Park gator

Here are photographs of an 11-foot alligator that had taken up refuge in the pond at Hiller Park. The gator, which had been in a bayou near the city park, was captured and destroyed on July 10, 2012. Authorities said that over the years people had repeatedly fed the reptile — a violation of state law — and it had lost its fear of humans, making it a threat to public safety.
