Mayor A.J. Holloway likes to provide “inside scoops” at the Breakfast with the Mayor gatherings, and today’s audience at the IP Casino Resort Spa was given a firsthand preview of the new Walmart Supercenter opening in west Biloxi.
Holloway introduced store manager Michael McDavid, who with Market Manager Brian Thomas told the Biloxi Chamber audience that:
— The new store, which will be on C.T. Switzer Sr. Drive, will include a drive-through pharmacy, a first for Walmart in south Mississippi.
— The 156,000-square foot store also features a full line of groceries, deli, bakery and a wide assortment of products and services in a new, easy-to-shop layout.
— The store will have about 300 employees, which includes about 85 new positions created by the relocation.
— The Pass Road store will close Tuesday evening, April 10, and Walmart will open the new store at 7:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 11, after a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony. The public is invited to attend the ceremony or stop by the new store throughout the day to enjoy the family-oriented festivities.
