Garbage and recycling pick up will be on schedule this week, but the Harrison County Utility Authority reports that the trash pick up of limbs and other yard waste will be running a day behind because of increased volume.
The utility authority says Pelican Waste and Debris, the contractor whose blue trucks pick up limbs, bagged leaves and other items, has been challenged by debris created by Hurricane Ida, which struck on Aug. 29.
Yard waste is defined as the type of waste that is placed curbside that is not placed in the household garbage or recycling bins. It should not be placed near power poles, guy wires, fire hydrants, mailboxes or gas meters.
