The Operations Division of the Police Department is comprised of 89 sworn officers and 16 civilians under the direction of the Major of Patrol Operations. Services provided include:Patrol Operations: Patrol supports the largest number of sworn personnel in the department. They’re responsible for daily uniformed service to the community, including answering calls for service, engaging in highway safety measures, patrolling assigned areas to deter criminal activity and assisting citizens wherever necessary. Officers work 14 days per month on a 12 hour, rotating schedule. Services are provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Bomb Squad: The Bomb Squad is composed of five sworn officers trained by the FBI in explosives and explosive materials. They are responsible for explosive ordinance disposal (EOD) in the lower 24 counties of the state (from the coast north to Jones County), and a key element in the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force, Regional Response Team and the MS Homeland Security Task Force.
Dive Team:Â The Dive Team is comprised of 15 fully trained officers specializing in search and rescue operations and safe boating practices in support of law enforcement activities. The team operates and maintains four water craft as well as dive equipment and search tools valued in excess of $70,000.
Front Desk and Records: Citizens and visitors can come to the Police Department 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to file reports, pick-up reports, speak to a Police Supervisors, and/or ask questions.
Garage Services: The department maintains 276 vehicles ranging from motorcycles to large scale special purpose trucks. The police garage is a full-service facility with three ASE certified mechanics and three assistants. They provide scheduled and unplanned vehicle maintenance, minor body work, outfitting vehicles for police and fire service, and vehicle storage operations.
K9: The K9 unit is comprised of six highly trained sworn officers who specialize in operational activity using canines with individualized skills (narcotics and explosives). They participate in a large number of operational and Community Relations functions throughout the year, as well as carrying out Patrol functions.

Property & Evidence: The Property/Evidence function is a multi-faceted unit encompassing receipt, verification, storage and maintenance of evidentiary items; fleet management; large scale department purchases; and purchase, maintenance and issue of stored equipment.The Evidence Room is staffed by an International Association of Property and Evidence certified technician who maintains control of all evidentiary items seized by officers or turned-in by citizens.
Special Response Team: The SRT is comprised of highly trained sworn officers specializing in high risk operational activity. Their purpose is to minimize risk to officers, citizens and suspects during high risk events using specialized weapons and tactics.
Special Teams: The Biloxi Police Department trains, equips and maintains several special teams in an effort to address unique law enforcement and community issues.
Technologies: Emerging technologies are constantly being evaluated by the Biloxi Police Department to determine if they can be used to improve our services to the community; e.g., Body and vehicle mounted camera systems, drones, wireless/paperless reporting systems.
Training: The Biloxi Police Department’s Training Section is manned by two full time Training Officers who provide, arrange and/or supervise training for all department employees.
