If you were not one of 800 visitors to meet some of the spirits of the Old Biloxi cemetery on Sunday, don’t fret. There’s still another presentation yet.
Today from 5 to 7 p.m. the cemetery will again come alive with history, music and characters for the encore presentation of the 10th annual Old Biloxi Cemetery Tour. Jambalaya and refreshments will be served during the free event, Â and parking is available at the Biloxi Elks Lodge, immediately west of the cemetery.
Themed “The Mayors of Biloxi,” the self-guided walking tour focuses on the life and experiences of 17 former Biloxi mayors interred in the Biloxi cemetery.
In fact, three of the re-enactors are descendants of the mayor they are portraying.
Justin Kennedy portrays his great-uncle, former Mayor and hotel owner John J. Kennedy. Laz N. Quave portrays his grandfather, Laz Quave, and Jeffrey O’Keefe portrays his great-uncle and Godfather, John O’Keefe.
“This event has almost triple the characters as past tours,” event organizer Laurie Rosetti said. “Some descendants have brought family artifacts, and Justin Kennedy even has a cello player to add to his re-enactment.”
With such a grand anniversary celebration, visitors will be taking advantage of the encore presentation.
Added Rosetti:Â “Many visitors said that they would come back on Tuesday so that they could see all of the characters that they missed.”
