City requests nominations for Volunteer of the Year

The City of Biloxi wants your help in finding a Volunteer of the Year. If you know someone or an organization or business that always seems willing to help, nominate them now for the 36th annual Volunteer Recognition Ceremony.

Individuals who have volunteered in Biloxi will be recognized in the areas of community, health, arts and history, education, military, nonprofit organization, youth, sports, adult and youth groups, and a Distinguished Volunteer of the Year. Organizations and businesses also will be recognized for community service.

Forms are available at the Downtown Services Office, 932 Howard Ave., at Biloxi City Hall, 140 Lameuse St., or online at biloxi.ms.us.  All forms must be complete and include a picture of the nominee performing service work.  The deadline for the nominations, which are to be turned into the Downtown Services office, is 5 p.m. on Monday, April 1.

A recognition ceremony will be Tuesday, April 16 at 5:30 p.m. at the Biloxi Civic Center, 578 Howard Ave.  During the free ceremony, awards will be presented and all nominees will be recognized.
