Another candidate – Dixie Newman – has filed with the Municipal Clerk her intentions to be a candidate for mayor of Biloxi in the upcoming April 28 special election, and the deadline for voter registration is Saturday at noon.
Newman on Tuesday filed her Qualifying Statement of Intent along with 50 signatures of registered Biloxi voters, bringing the total of prospective candidates to four. Others who have filed the required paperwork are “FoFo” Gilich, Felix. O. Gines, and W.S. “Windy” Swetman, III.
Meantime, would-be voters have until Saturday at noon to register to vote in the upcoming election. Those who have not already registered or have moved are required to register at the Harrison County Courthouse through Friday at 5 p.m., or Saturday between 8 a.m. and noon at Biloxi City Hall.
Would-be candidates have until April 8 at 5 p.m. to file a Qualifying Statement of Intent, along with 50 signatures of registered Biloxi voters, with the Biloxi Municipal Clerk. Once the April 8 deadline has passed, signatures will be verified, and, upon verification, the Biloxi Municipal Election Commission would certify the candidates.

160,000 expected for Keesler air show
Keesler Air Force Base expects to host 160,000 people or more this weekend for the air show and open house headlined by the Air Force Thunderbirds.
To help move visitors on and off the base, Keesler will offer free shuttle service beginning at 8:45 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Best place to park to catch the shuttle: Oak Park, off Bayview Avenue, west of I-110.
