Biloxi A to Z: Neptune and Gulf Coast Carnival Association parade routes and reminders headline this week’s video.
As final preparations are being made by city crews and Mardi Gras krewes for the upcoming Neptune and Gulf Coast Carnival Association parades, city leaders are asking parade-goers to have a plan.
“Mardi Gras is one of our great cultural celebrations in Biloxi,” says Mayor Andrew “FoFo” Gilich. “And we want everyone to have a spirited yet safe time. We ask everyone to make sure they have a good plan before, during, and after the parades.”
Here are some tips to keep in mind when planning to attend the Neptune parade set for Saturday at 5:30 p.m. and the Gulf Coast Carnival Associations parade set for 1 p.m. on Tuesday, both downtown.
Before the parade
– Carpool and anticipate traffic delays.
– Park only in legal parking spaces. No parking in the median or on sidewalks.
– Do not park too close to the railroad tracks.
– Do not park in the Biloxi City Cemetery.
During the parade
– Do not cross or go around barricades.
– Follow any instructions police give you.
– It is unlawful for minors — anyone under 21 years of age — to consume alcoholic beverages.
– Do not bring your animals to the event area.
– Do not bring glass containers to the parade. Use plastic instead.
– Use portable restrooms along the parade route.
After the parade
– Do not attempt to operate a vehicle if you are under the influence of alcohol.
– Follow the directions of officers posted along the routes.
– Expect traffic delays and heavy traffic immediately after the parade.
