Biloxi’s National Day of Prayer, which takes place Thursday on the front steps of City Hall, will honor the late Carleen Hall, longtime organizer of the annual ceremony in Biloxi.
The public ceremony, which runs from noon to 1 p.m., marks the 70th Mississippi National Day of Prayer.
A host of community leaders and clergy will take part in the ceremony.
Mayor Andrew “FoFo” Gilich will present a proclamation honoring Hall, who had coordinated Biloxi’s National Day of Prayer since 1994. Her husband, Stan, remains involved and will accept the proclamation. Carleen Edith Hilchey Hall was born Aug. 1, 1945 in Batavia, N.Y., and died in Biloxi in 2020. Said her obituary: She loved people and was known as “The Hug Lady” at her church.
