Council OKs vacation of Camille Street

By Jerry Creel, Community Development Director

This week in community development, the city council voted unanimously to approve the vacation of Camille Street, between Reynoir and Croesus Streets, and to accept the dedication of a portion of Croesus Street at Beach Boulevard for the purpose of making access improvements to the traffic intersection. This approval also included a land swap between the City, and Pegasus Development Group LLC. which will create a contiguous lot at Reynoir and Beach Boulevard to allow the construction of a luxury hotel.

Also this week, demolition began on the former Santa Maria Del Mar structure. The demolition is expected to take 2 months, and will include removing everything except the concrete superstructure. Architectural plans are being prepared for the conversion of the structure into a luxury hotel. The hotel brand will be announced at a future date. Building plans were submitted this week for 7 new single family houses.
