MGM’s high school baseball debut pushed back a day

The inaugural high school baseball game in MGM Park is going to have to wait a day.

The matchup between the Biloxi Indians and D’Iberville Warriors, billed as the Battle of Back Bay Tomahawk Cup, has been pushed back from this evening to Friday at 7 p.m.

Tickets sold for this evening will be honored Friday night.

Meantime, baseball fans also have a chance to see a community college doubleheader Saturday afternoon when Gulf Coast entertains Baton Rouge Community College at MGM Park. Games are at 1 and 4 p.m.

News and notes

A case of gas on Division Street: Contractors making emergency sewer repairs under the intersection at Division and Caillavet streets knew a sewer line was blocked, but what they found 12 feet underground left them with a case of gas. You can see the story and photos on the city’s Facebook page by clicking here.

Inside looking out, from the Biloxi Lighthouse: Everyone has seen the Biloxi Lighthouse, well at least everyone who has been to Biloxi, but a new real-time video feed from inside the cupola of the lighthouse gives you a new perspective. Visitors Center staff, who control the image, plan to move it around from time to time.  To see the live feed, courtesy of the city’s YouTube page, click here. (You can also get to it by clicking on the Biloxi Lighthouse at the top left of any page on the city website.)

Podcasting: The issues in this week’s City Desk podcast, recorded this morning: The brouhaha over diversion of BP funding, baseball at MGM Park, the extension of Popp’s Ferry Road to U.S. 90, an eye on the Biloxi Police Department, and, of course, Division Street and infrastructure work.
