Merit Health to host Breakfast with the Mayor

Merit Health Biloxi, the downtown Biloxi medical center formerly known as Biloxi Regional, will be showing off $3 million in improvements and state-of-the-art technology Tuesday morning when the facility hosts Breakfast With the Mayor.

The breakfast, which begins at 8 a.m., will be held in the Merit’s recently renovated lobby, where the medical center invested $1.3 million to create a spacious, one-stop location for registration and a re-designed emergency room.

Merit leaders also will be providing tours of the hospital’s $1.7 million laser-guided angiography system, which offers multidiscipline clinicians and an unprecedented diagnostic imagining tool. Merit is one of only two medical centers in the country and one of only three in the world to have the equipment.

Mayor Andrew “FoFo” Gilich, meantime, will provide a status report on several ongoing initiatives, including the ultra-high speed Internet issue, how infrastructure work is progressing and revisions that will be made in future infrastructure contracts, and progress on the move to revitalize Division Street and create a new main gate for Keesler Air Force Base.
