The Municipal Election Commission officially declared Rodney McGilvary as the winner of the Ward 4 Special Election.
The Commission met Tuesday evening at Biloxi City Hall to review any absentee ballots that were postmarked by July 9, the date of the Ward 4 Special Election runoff. Three were received.
After review, all three absentee ballots were rejected and the Commission officially declared the election of 452 votes for McGilvary, 443 votes for Jamie Creel, and two write-in votes. The official results gave McGilvary the victory.
McGilvary served 40 years in the Biloxi Police Department, retiring as assistant chief. He has also served seven years on the Biloxi Housing Authority Commission.
The Inauguration of Ward 4 Biloxi City Council member Rodney McGilvary will be held on Tuesday, July 23 prior to the Biloxi City Council meeting at Biloxi City Hall.
