Mayor’s Youth Council Attendance Policy

Members shall make session attendance a high priority and attend all sessions. A member who misses a session because of an illness may be required to perform additional makeup work, as determined by the program coordinators. Prior to the meeting, parents/guardians must give notification by email at myc@biloxi.ms.us or text, Cecilia Dobbs Walton at 228-297-6337 or Susan Hunt at 228-297-6808, to notify them that the student is ill and cannot attend the meeting. Exceptions will be made based on the circumstances.

Students must attend every session. If a student is to miss a session for an illness, prior to the meeting, parents/guardians must notify the Program Coordinators by email at myc@biloxi.ms.us or text Cecilia Dobbs Walton at 228-297-6337 or Susan Hunt at 228-297-6808, that the student is ill and cannot attend.

If the student must miss a session because of a conflict with a scheduled athletic or academic event, the principal, counselor, athletic director, or academic sponsor must contact the Program Coordinators by email myc@biloxi.ms.us or text Cecilia Dobbs Walton at 228-297-6337 or Susan Hunt at 228-297-6808, prior to the meeting informing the Coordinators of the situation.

Any unexcused absences of more than two will be addressed by Mayor Andrew “FoFo” Gilich and the student could be subjected to dismissal from the program. If dismissed from the program, a letter will be sent to the student, parent/guardian, and school principal.

Members who fulfill all duties and responsibilities assigned to them will be given a program completion certificate at the end of the program.
