Mask mandate extended until Aug. 3

Gov. Tate Reeves today announced that the statewide mask-up mandate has been extended until Aug. 3, and Memorial Hospital has announced more drive-up COVID-19 screening and testing for those who have COVID- or flu-like symptoms is coming up in Biloxi.

It’s all part of today’s Be Prepared report, along with the latest numbers: Statewide, 1,251 new cases in the past 24 hours and 3,060 cases since Friday; and in Harrison County, 69 positive tests in the past 24 hours, bringing the countywide total since Day 1 to 1,456.

The message from the city continues to be “Mask up, Biloxi.” In fact, masks went up today on one of Biloxi’s high-profile landmarks, the Biloxi Lighthouse, in an effort to draw attention to the guidelines.

Testing: Memorial’s drive-up clinic will be on Thursday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the Biloxi Civic Center, located off Howard Avenue. Remember to wear a face covering.  Additionally, Memorial wilol provide testing and screening Thursday, July 30, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Woo;market Civic Center at 16320 Old Woolmarket Road. Immunization fair: For new and returning students in Biloxi Public Schools, the 5th annual immunization fair continues its drive-in service on Friday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Coastal Family Health Clinic at 735 Division St. The drive thru is for new and returning students to the Biloxi schools.
