Main Street plans movie, Halloween fun on Town Green

“We ain’t afraid of no ghosts,” says Main Street Biloxi Director Kay Miller, referring to this weekend’s “drive-in” movie and Halloween carnival planned for the Town Green.

Trick or treat booths and games will be set up around the Biloxi Town Green on Saturday afternoon beginning at 5:30, with an outdoor airing of the movie “Ghostbusters” planned for dusk. Those attending are encouraged to bring a canned food item, which will be donated to the Salvation Army food pantry.

Main Street Biloxi will conduct a costume contest for ages 12 and under before the movie. A concession stand with snacks and soft drinks also will be operating.

The event is being co-sponsored by the city and Beau Rivage Resort & Casino.

Work planned on Popp’s Ferry bridge

Motorists traveling the Popp’s Ferry Bridge on Monday and Tuesday nights will experience traffic slowdowns as repairs are made to the grade at the span of the two-lane bridge.

The city’s Public Works Department plans to limit traffic to one lane from 8 p.m. to as late as midnight both nights. The bridge will accommodate vehicular and marine traffic during the work, but motorists are advised to expect slowdowns.
