Lions to present award; St. Vincent DePaul up for donation

The Biloxi Lions Club, in keeping with a tradition dating back 75 years, will recognize a community-minded individual with the Biloxi Outstanding Citizen Award.

The announcement, which will be made Wednesday during a noon luncheon at Mary Mahoney’s Old French House Restaurant, is an occasion where members of the Lions Club recognize “the Biloxi citizen who has made the greatest non-commercial contribution to the advancement and improvement of our community during the preceding year.”

Community Pharmacy to receive $100,000 donation

The St. Vincent DePaul Community Pharmacy in Biloxi, which helps provide prescription medication to qualified low-income and needy individuals, is scheduled to receive a donation of $100,000 this week from the government of the Czech Republic.

Petr Kolar, ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary from the Czech Republic, is expected to visit the Biloxi pharmacy Thursday at 11:30 a.m. to make the presentation to pharmacy representatives. He will be accompanied by Daniel Novy’ of the Czech embassy in Washington.
