Award-winning wood sculptor Marlin Miller created two more sculptures — a bald eagle and a parrot — on March 3, 2008, his fifth visit to Biloxi. Miller, a Fort Walton Beach, Fla., artist who is donating his time city the city’s sculpture project, sculptured the bald eagle from a standing dead cypress tree in the center median of Beach Boulevard, just east of Rodenberg Avenue. During the same visit, he sculpted a parrot from a small standing dead oak in the center median a block east of the White House fountain. The latest sculpture brings the total number of sculpted dead trees on Beach Boulevard in Biloxi to 17. City crews will soon begin applying sealant to Miller’s previous creations, and the artist, known as “Mad Marlin,” is planning to create more works of art during return trips.
