Public schools in Biloxi are more than schools, they comprise an Indian Nation, according to students in the district, and this Friday and every Friday throughout April students, staff, businesses and the public are invited to show their Indian pride.
The occasions will help make note of Biloxi Public Schools being named an A-rated school district, the No. 3 district in the state (behind only Pass Christian and Clinton), and being home to four A-rated and two B-rated schools.
“We’ve had some remarkable achievements in Biloxi Public Schools,” said Superintendent Arthur McMillan, “and we’re going to be celebrating the success throughout the month of April, but on Friday, March 21, we’re going to be kicking off Indian Nation.”
As part of the celebration, McMillan said, everyone is encouraged to wear red on Friday and ensuing Fridays through April 25.
“This is not about Biloxi Public Schools,” McMillan said. “This is about Biloxi Public Schools AND the Biloxi community, and how we’re working together to accomplish great things for our students, our families and our community in general.
“Friday is the chance to show that pride, and it will be a signal of a great month-long celebration in April. So, wear your red and white this Friday.”
