Mayor A.J. Holloway was released from Biloxi Regional Medical Center before noon today, six days after having routine follow-up surgery to a colon operation he underwent four months ago.
Holloway is expected to return to his City Hall office within the next couple of weeks.
The surgery last Thuraday was a follow-up to a Jan. 31 operation to repair a perforated colon, which was caused by diverticulitis, a relatively common condition in which pouches on the outside of the colon become inflamed or infected.
Holloway had spent 11 days in the hospital after his January surgery and took part in his first city function 20 days after the operation.
