Holloway: Be that helping hand

Mayor A.J. Holloway, responding to citizens inquiries about helping earthquake victims in Haiti, is recommending that residents make donations through the Red Cross.

“We’ve had a few calls from people wanting to know if there are any plans to gather water, food or clothing,” Holloway said. “The best advice that we have is for folks to donate cash through the American Red Cross, and I encourage my fellow Biloxi residents to do that – whether it’s $5, $10 or more. And you can do it online or by phone.”

Biloxians and residents of the Gulf Coast, Holloway said, should be especially sensitive to the plight of victims in Haiti.

Said Holloway: “We’ve been through tough times, and we know the value of a helping hand. Now is the time to be that helping hand.”
