Holiday events coming up; fresh aerials of Biloxi online

A collection of city-sponsored holiday events continues tonight and over the next week:

— Christmas at Eagle Point — with decorating and lighting of the tree and free hot chocolate and snacks — takes place tonight from 6 to 7:30 at the fire station on Oaklawn Drive. The public is invited to the event. The celebration moves to Beck Park on Tuesday, same time, same lineup.

— Biloxi police officers are continuing to collect new or unopened toys for the annual “Santa Wears a Badge” program. Those interested should drop off the unwrapped toys at the front desk of the Lopez-Quave Public Safety Center, which is on Porter Avenue, two blocks north of the Biloxi Lighthouse and open 24/7.

— If you haven’t registered your child for a phone call from Santa or one of his elves, you still have time. The Parks and Recreation Department reports that those who missed the Dec. 6 deadline can still register – if you sign up within the next day or so To print a form that you can fax, click here.

Fresh look at Biloxi from the air

Nearly 150 fresh aerial photographs of Biloxi – from north of the Bay, around the Point and along the front beach – have been posted on the city web site. You’ll find them at the bottom of the photo and video gallery in the Katrina & Biloxi section of the site. To go there, click here.
